Midseason Fantasy Hockey Pickups, Buy Lows and Sell Highs

As the holiday season winds down it's time to take a look at some midseason fantasy hockey pickups who could help your team down the stretch.

Fantasy Hockey Sleepers and Darkhorses 2014-2015

Alex Tanguay - LW/RW - COL - Most people have forgotten Tanguay due to an injury which kept him out most of last season. Patrick Roy obviously isn't too concerned about his ability to still play, as he plans to use him on the first line with Nathan MacKinnon and Gabriel Landeskog to start the year.

Western Conference Will Be Loaded Once Again In 2014-2015

For the last three seasons, a team from the Western Conference has won the Stanley Cup. Los Angeles has two of those championships, while the Chicago Blackhawks also won a title in 2013. Just about everyone agrees that the Western Conference is going to be much tougher than the Eastern Conference this upcoming season as well. Surviving that part of the bracket is going to be difficult, and here is a very early look at the three best teams. All of them are loaded with fantasy hockey talent to rely on.

Fantasy Hockey Goalie Sleeper Picks 2014-2015

Justin Peters - WAS - Carolina didn't want to let him go, but they couldn't trade Cam Ward so Ward-Khudobin it is in Carolina. Meanwhile, Holtby is the de facto number one but struggled to ward off Michal Neuvrith, Philip Grubauer and Jaro Halak all of last season.

Alex Stalock - SJ - San Jose didn't trust Niemi at all during the playoffs and it finally showed when they started Stalock in their series against LA. Armed with a new deal, Stalock will look to prove that he's a better option than Niemi, who some think isn't good enough to take SJ to the promised land.

2014-2015 Fantasy Hockey Rankings Updates (COMING SOON)

After a fairly lengthy hiatus, Fantasy Hockey Fanatic will begin gearing up early for the 2014-2015 fantasy season with some offseason rankings updates in the coming days.

First up will be a brand new top 100 forwards rankings.

Following that, the 2014-2015 fantasy hockey defenseman rankings will get an update.

Finally, I will update the 2014-2015 fantasy hockey goalie rankings. This offseason will be particularly interesting for goalies: where does Ryan Miller end up? Who will be the starter in Anaheim, St Louis, Winnipeg, Washington, Carolina, or Calgary? We can all make educated guesses, but with the number of fairly talented goalies entering the market such as Cam Ward, Ryan Miller, Jonas Hiller and even guys like James Reimer, there's bound to be a few shakeups in creases around the league.

Each fantasy rankings category will get updated approximately once a month.

Fantasy Hockey Waiver Wire Watch: Nov 23, 2013

Tyler Ennis - LW - BUF - It's always wise to exercise caution before adding a member of the Buffalo Sabres, but Ennis has been ripping it up lately. His month long slumber to start the season has ended, and he's back to his expected 50-60 point pace with 6 points in his last 8 games played.

Fantasy Hockey Waiver Wire Watch, Friday Oct 25, 2013

Waiver Wire Pickups

Ray Whitney - DAL - LW - (11% owned in Yahoo) - 6 points in 9 GP - It boggles the mind that a guy who was on pace for 75 points last year is on only 11% of fantasy rosters. He's going to get you at least 50 points, and has a realistic shot at doing much, much better than that. Get over the age thing, he's still a great player.

Another Collection of Fantasy Hockey Darkhorse/Sleeper Picks for 2013-2014

Everybody loves sleeper picks (myself included), so here's yet another selection:

Jhonas Enroth - G - BUF - It's almost guaranteed that Ryan Miller gets traded out of Buffalo this season as the franchise looks to begin a gruelling rebuild. If the team transitions into tank mode, they'll probably turn to Enroth before deciding to sign or trade for a veteran netminder. Enroth looked solid last season in his spot starts in the Buffalo crease. You might not want to draft Enroth, but be ready to pounce on him the free agent market the moment Miller rumours start to surface. If the Sabres are out of the playoff picture early, the Miller trade could happen well before the deadline.

Even More Fantasy Hockey Sleeper Picks for 2013-2014

It's fantasy hockey draft season once again and GM's are making their lists and checking it twice. Here are some late round gifts for your fantasy hockey team.

Brandon Pirri - C - CHI - Even though Chicago is known to have great depth throughout their lineup, they're shockingly thin down the middle. Pirri is known for his playmaking skills and could snag you a surprising 40-50 points this season on the Blackhawks' second line.
